Meet me!

Hello!

My name is Gem Pope, and I am a teacher and mother of two teenage children based in Devon, England. I have been teaching for over 15 years, including at three different universities across the South West of England, where I was a lecturer, dissertation supervisor and pastoral tutor. I am also a published author and love to write fiction in my free time.

I have a first-class honours degree from Napier University in Edinburgh, as well as a Post Graduate Certification from Arts University, Plymouth.

I have been teaching English to non-native international learners for over two years now and pride myself on creating a safe, warm and collaborative online learning space where my students can thrive.

The parents of my students deal directly with me for all matters concerning their child's education, and I see my small roster of students as part of my extended family and treat them as such.

My Tutoring Services

Everything I offer below is included in your child's regular English class. But you can read each section in more detail about the areas I specialise in. As you will always be in direct weekly contact with me, we can focus on what is necessary for your child at any particular time within the year. For example, when there are exams approaching, we can focus on exam prep, or if there is an oral speaking or spelling competition, we can prepare for it accordingly.

English Tuition- Courses

I offer a holistic approach to my English tuition, using a variety of different accredited English courses for your child to follow. In discussion with my parents, we decide which would be the most suitable for your child and their English education.

Speaking, Enunciation & Accent

I have an RP accent and studied drama and theatre throughout my childhood and young adulthood. I hold LAMDA qualifications, and my specialism was in the works of Shakespeare and the English Classics.

Exam and Test Support

Many of my students need that little bit of extra support and guidance, not only for school exams, but also for extracurricular qualifications.

Competition Preparation

A lot of my students wish to participate in a variety of English-focused competitions. I aim to prepare them to the best of their ability.
